Partners

We have partnered with Panchavati Greentech Research Society (PGRS), an NGO registered under the Societies Registration Act, West Bengal to cultivate the medicinal plants. PGRS has been working for the benefit of the underprivileged since 1999 and nurturing the ecology and preserving the socio-cultural strengths of the region.

Our objective is to help with the economic and sustainable development of the region to improve the lives of the beneficiaries. 
 
In addition, we also work closely with the Department of Forest, Government of West Bengal; Darjeeling Rural Development Cell (DRDC); and Environmental Research Station, Institute of Forest Productivity – ICFRE (Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education), Sukna.

Technical Collaboration of PGRS

PGRS has established technical collaboration with the following institutes:

  • Regional Research laboratory, CSIR, Jammu, India
  • Agricultural Research Station, NARC, Pakhribas, Dhankuta, Nepal.
  • Out-station campus of Institute of Rural Development, Natural Disaster and Environmental Management, IRUDENDEM, Kolkota, India.
  • West Bengal Voluntary Health Association, Kolkata.
  • Darjeeling Forest Division, Hill Circle, Darjeeling, Government of West Bengal, India.
  • District Rural Development Cell, Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council, Darjeeling, West Bengal, India


Projects Undertaken

  • Establishment of a tissue culture unit in Darjeeling (Phase 1) - Funded by MPLADS, 1999.
  • Establishment of a tissue culture unit in Darjeeling (Phase II) - Funded by MPLADS, 2002.
  • Cultivation of commercial medicinal plants for self-employment and income generation under bio-technology based programmes for women and rural development in Darjeeling Hills of the Eastern Himalayas – Funded by Dept. of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India, 1999 to 2003.
  • Joint project of PGRS and Regional Research Laboratory (CSIR), Jammu on Development and exploitation of better varieties of Swertia species available in the North East region, 2001-2002.
  • Cultivation of medicinal plants in the Himalayan region for income generation. Funded by B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation, Royal Nepalese Embassy, New Delhi, 2001 to 2003.
  • Joint project of PGRS and Agricultural  Research Station, NARC, Nepal, on Medicinal plant research, domestication and marketing for the benefit of the rural people. 2001 to 2003.
  • Joint project of PGRS and WBUHA, Kolkatta, West Bengal on National Afforestation Programme for cultivation of medicinal plants in the Darjeeling Hills. 2004-2005
